This Song Has a Story

Years ago, my girlfriend left to study in Venice, and I wrote When Will You Be Back for her, as I missed her dearly. But when she finally did come back, I found out she was seeing someone else. Heartbroken, I abandoned the song.

Years later, I tried rewriting it and came up with an organ and church choir intro. The song still didn’t feel right—but the intro stuck with me.

And that’s how Prelude in E Minor was born.
